Where do you live?
APPLE PRINTS
Journals make a great opportunity for me to assess development.
IS THAT A LETTER????
She was so proud of her triangle!!
Today we continued talking about apples, and also about communities. We talked about where we live, (Siloam Springs) and that we live in Arkansas, too. This is such a hard concept for preschoolers to grasp, that the world is bigger than just our lovely little town. We will use maps next week to better demonstrate that we live in a city, within a state, within a country, etc. But, we will not focus too much on those grand ideas, just plant a seed that there is a vast world out there that we live in. :)
We read City Mouse & Country Mouse, the story of two mice that live their lives in opppostie places. They trade places and didn't like it. The group talked about what it means to love in the country. It might involve a farm, a ranch, lots of land, or just being away from the busy town or city. We discovered that we all live in a house or an apartment. And Miss Beth lives in a SCHOOL!
We made apple prints. We cut an apple and saw the star inside, we used the apple halves dipped in paint to "stamp" with red paint on the paper. Some stamped a few, some covered their whole paper with red using the apple as their tool.
Tomorrow Miss Adrian will be with us as I am presently in Hot Springs gettting ready for the Arkansas Early Childhood Association. I am excited about all the information and ideas I will discover, and can't wait to be back again Monday!
