Senses and Feelings

Today we did a few final fun activities from our 5 Senses unit, since my week was so short last week.
We learned more about our sense of touch with this sensory board. This is a great way introduce descriptive words: bumpy, rough, smooth, scratchy, etc.
We listened to a CD with 14 different sounds on it as a small group. Then I put the CD in the listening center with picture cards to match as we heard the sounds.
This was a very popular center this morning, so we made a list of who wanted a turn. Paizley was the list writer!
During our large group time we talked about feelings. We talked about how we might look when we feel a certain way-facial expression, body language, and how we can express how we are feeling. We are trying to use words to decribe how we feel this week. Happy, sad, diappointed, frustrated, jealous, excited, bored, and more. We read The Way I Feel and On Monday When It Rained, both which are great books to help us label many different feelings. Then we listened to a Laurie Berkner song This is the Story of My Feelings, which helps us to learn ways to feel better when we are feeling sad or angry. We will keep learning about feelings throughout this week!
