Little Builders!
Today we had all sorts of fun again learning about builders and construction!
We measured and hammered, and built things inside with blocks and built ramps and bridges outside with some wood that was left over from the construction of our classroom.
We read two books about construction during grouptime, Building a House and Digger Man. We learned two new songs for Thanksgiving, "Five Fat Turkeys" and "10 Little Indians". We also watched a short video of a puppet show retelling the story of the Three Little Pigs. The kids thought it was hilarious! I'm not sure why, but they were laughing during the whole thing!
They also think this pig mask in the dress up center is quite funny...they go around pretending to be a "mean wild hog" but their friends just laugh and laugh.
Just an update on the classroom...it is wired and ready for drywall! Hope to get that in soon!
Today in your child's paper folder were some important notes. I will explain them now:
Scholastic book order-these are not mandatory, so please do not feel any pressure to order. If you do choose to order this month (or any month!), please try to order online. Each online order gets us a FREE book for our classroom! :) These orders are due the 14th of this month, either online to turned into me.
Parent-Teacher conferences-these will be held each afternoon at 3:15 and 3:30, on the 16th, 17th, 18th, 21st & 22nd. Please sign up for the time slot you would like on the sign in table. These are short,10 minute conferences when we will go over your child's Dial 3 assessment and discuss goals for the remainder for the school year. These conferences are an ABC requirement, so it is important that at least one parent attend.
Thanksgiving luncheon-On Wednesday, November 23rd, we will have a Thanksgiving luncheon for the WHOLE family! Bring parents, grandparents, siblings-whoever you'd like! This day is a half day for our school, and the children will need to be picked up by 11:00 to meet at the Community building for our "feast"! Please RSVP for this event as we need to know how many we will expect to seat. We would love to have you bring your family's favorite Thanksgiving recipe to share with us, but you only need bring enough to feed a family of your size. Side dish, dessert, or bread-pick one to bring and share!(Turkey, dressing, and drinks will be provided). We will have a short performance to showcase our special songs that we have been working so hard on, and the children are VERY excited! After lunch, we will release to start our Thanksgiving break! This is a great family event, and I hope to see lots of my little friends and their families there! If you have any questions, let me know!
