Fall fun!

Woo Hoo! FIFTEEN views of last week's blog! You guys ARE reading it!! YAY!!!!

That is so good to see, as it takes me a LONG time to blog on Fridays, upwards of an hour or two. I am not very computer-literate, so it's a labor of love. But, I think it's important for all parents to have access to what we have done throughout the week and see the pictures of the fun going on. It's one way I think that a private program like mine can set itself apart from the public pre-k down the street or across town. I am glad to see so many are taking advantage of it. Makes me "happy, happy, happy" as Phil Roberson would say. (OK, at least ONE parent will get that reference....)

THIS WEEK:

We have continued fall activities.

Painting fall trees with Q-tips. Excellent reinforcement of pencil grip, colors, color blending, (red and yellow make orange, green and red make brown)and fine motor skills. Check these out on our wall in the dramatic play center!

We had fall stamps and stamp pads

Miss Britney drew a tree, and we peeled foam fall leaf stickers and decorated our fall trees however we wished. These are on display in the block center!

Again, great practice of a pencil grip as they peel each sticker and excellent fine motor practice.

We read some more fall books, but I found a whole stack of feelings books this week so we read those as well. I have LOTS of books, and apparently hide them from myself for fun. We read books on kind words, expressing feelings, the way we feel and act (great vocabulary tems in these to label feelings and actions), and a story about a hamster who hit his friends and they didn't want to play with him anymore. This one hit home for a few of us; I could see the wheels turning as we read it. :)

We had indoor recess Friday, and we once again used the Kinect to play Just Dance for Kids. Lia and Isabella NEVER STOPPED DANCING. They definitely got their share of gross motor movement today!

We also had indoor bowling,

And hopscotch.

Also during indoor recess they can choose any center they wish to play in. But most of us liked dancing the best.

Here's a few more pictures of this week's fun:

Painting at the easel

Logan stacks the blocks as high as he can...

and knocks them down!

Miss Britney reads a book to Londan while Londan listens and cuts. We love Miss Britney!

We had lots of cutting practice this week!

Want a moment of peace from your preschooler? Give them paper and a pair of scissors and a place to sit. Reinforce proper form: thumb in the circle on top, other fingers in the oval on bottom, and chop the paper like an alligator. Draw a squiggly line on a piece of paper (or a zig zag, slant, straight, whatever), and have them cut on the line.

We love magna tiles! I recently doubled our set so we could be even more creative when we build.

Outside this week:

Friends!

We played with the parachute! They squeal with excitement when we get it out! Definitely a favorite outdoor activity :)

We had races! We would run, tiptoe, hop on one foot,

crawl like a baby, leap like a frog, twirl like a leaf, and other silly things!

Londan spent alot of time with Banjo outside today. He definitely loves the attention!

Next week is fire safety week and we will also learn move along to focusing on pumpkins.
