This week we continued learning about winter. We charted what we wear in the winter, and things we can play when winter weather comes. Sadly, we did not get to learn about winter while experiencing a blizzard, but we had some "snow" of our own inside!
This is some magic snow! Just add water, and voila! It is even cold! We made a fresh batch every day and had spoons, shovels, and even ice cream scoops to use to explore the "snow".
We explored this week and learned a lot about ice. What makes ice? What happens when it melts? We had ice experiments and lots fun ways to learn!
The ice in the water table froze. We were allowed to us tools to explore it, but we were not allowed to touch it with our hands or mittens.
We found icicles all around the yard
During circle time, we played "pass the ice" and passed one ice cube around the circle until it melted away. We watched each time it went around how it kept getting smaller and smaller. We learned that the heat from our hands was what made it melt and made our hands wet. It went around our circle about 14 times before it was completely melted away!
These boys had a busy restaurant going!
Malachi apparently is taking a to-go order
We made snow men!
This week we had sparkly white peppermint scented playdough
We had an indoor "Snowball fight"
A mitten matching file folder game
Reading lots and lots of books about snow
We rotated out some new wipe of boards in the writing center
We had another great week, despite me having my minor oral surgery Thursday afternoon ;)
Next week we will learn all about Arctic animals!
Don't forget! JANUARY 28th at 6:30 we will be treated to a FREE Kiddos concert at the Community Building. This is for friends and family, so bring the crew for a great concert for everyone!
