We are Family!

This week we have been learning about families. What a great way to kick this study off than our Thanksgiving lunch! Thank you to all of you who joined us and brought your families as well. It was great to see grandparents, aunts, cousins and more. the kids did so good singing all the songs we had been practicing for so long. We had a great time, and ate some yummy food as well.

We first began the week charting all the people who can be in a family: parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, and siblings.
We then charted the number of people we each have in our families. This was tricky because a family isn't necessarily who you live with, it's who you love. Then we made a list of the tasks and jobs that we have to do to help keep our family going. We all have chores that we need to do to help out at home. We have been adding to this list all week, and we compared a lot of the chores at home also need to be done at school. This is where it is great that we are in a home, AND at school. We are family...even at school. :)

We read lots of books about families, and learned new songs like Grandma's Glasses, and old favorites like "Hush Little Baby". We had a family prop box in the dress up center, with neck ties, vests, and work shoes for the dad, a shawl and heels and purse for mom, a blanket, bottle, and bib for baby, etc.

Next week we will focus more on homes, and places that families live.

We have a stomach virus going around, and I have had three out this week sick with it. Please follow our illness policy and keep any sick child home and not bring them back to school until 24 hours after they are fever free or from their last incident of being sick .

PLEASE REMEMBER BOOK ORDERS ARE DUE MONDAY!!!
