Winter fun!

What a fun week we have had! We are learning about winter, snow, snowmen and the like. While the weather hasn't really cooperated as much as would be hoped, but I think we are having fun and getting the concept. We have had some fun activities this week, and lots of fun playing and exploring.
This week we have made some beautiful watercolor art.

Yes, it's Hannah Montana. No, the kids don't care. They LOVE this guitar!

Monday we had our monthly fire drill and tornado drills. Can I say how happy it makes me that they know what to do as soon as they hear the smoke detectors? In fact, I had my inspection with the fire marshall on Wednesday, and he tested the smoke detectors. He told the children he was going to make sure they worked, and that it wasn't an emergency and they should keep playing. Nope! They all ran to the door saying "Go to the mailbox! Go to the maiilbox!" I was so proud, and appreciative for the brownie points with the fire marshall. ;)

We made awesome 3D art with "funnoodles". They stick together with just a bit of water from a sponge. I have seen airplanes, sailboats, robots, even "Joshua's house" while creating with them this week.

Gabriel found a quiet spot to take a phone call.

We explored with Floam. This stuff is hard to describe.

Tiny foam balls that are kind of like playdough? But we had fun molding it and rolling it to make all sorts of creations. Like snowmen!

We used our fine motor skills to string white beads on pipe cleaners.

Snowmen lacing cards and puzzles.

We built snowmen with styrofoam balls, pipe cleaners, buttons and other accessories.

Marcello practices his writing using dry erase marker and laminated tracing cards.

Gracie really enjoyed the file folder games that were out on the table this week!

Bekah found her B!

Lately we have really enjoyed building CUBES! With the foam puzzles, magnatiles, anything we can make into a cube shape.

Sorting clothing into summer or winter!

Joshua put the snowflakes in numerical order. He is proud!

We played with "snow". It is a cool white powder you add a bit of water to and it turns into snow! It confused us because it doesn't melt. (We have learned all week that snowmen melt.) Excellent for our critical thinking skills!

Isn't this sweet? We care about our friends. :)

Winter tic-tac-toe

The boys are loving the dress up shoes! They just laugh and laugh as they try to walk in them.

Today we played a alphabet matching game in small group. We picked a card, looked at the picture, and identified the sound and letter that it starts with.

Junior was excited that he found the "H" on the large foam puzzle that matched the "H" from the game we were playing.

As you can see, we have had a BUSY fun week. We have lots more winter activites to do next week, and don't forget about our science night on Tuesday at the Vintage Inn on University Street at 6:30! Hope to see you there!

HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND!
